<image:title>Mission - 4. Invest in American forging</image:title>
<image:caption>Decades of deindustrialization have hampered the industrial capacity of America. Few, if any, domestic forgers are able to deliver the ultra-heavy forgings required to build nuclear plants. The U.S. will need to cultivate the competency of domestic heavy forging in order to construct our nuclear reactors, which will provide much needed well paying jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign supply chains.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mission - 5. Export technology and expertise</image:title>
<image:caption>More than thirty countries are considering, planning, or starting nuclear power programs. Having a robust and sustainable domestic nuclear industry will allow American enterprise to better compete with other successful exporters of nuclear technology, such as Russia and soon China, in partnering with other nations looking to develop nuclear energy of their own.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5fc67678f7cf8c754050ede7/1612816095574-TO9EY5QS5SN0WTF6NGUE/1200-630-sunset-nuclearplant.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Mission - 2. Protect operating nuclear plants</image:title>
<image:caption>Right now, three nuclear plants are scheduled for premature closure by the end of the year, which represents enough clean electricity for nearly 4 million homes. America’s fleet of nuclear power plants is our largest source of carbon-free energy, providing almost 20% of the country’s electricity. Existing reactors can and should be refurbished and upgraded to keep them operating for decades to come.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5fc67678f7cf8c754050ede7/1612816614636-LWHH4HW2AYSWYBS634KG/mochovcenpp210515_1140x640.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Mission - 3. Train a workforce</image:title>
<image:caption>The nuclear power industry requires a considerable workforce, creating jobs more jobs in construction and operation than any other type of electricity generation. As more and more reactors come online, education and certification will need to keep up with the growing demand for workers in nuclear and related fields. This will mean massive public investment in engineering and vocational programs to graduate the next generation of nuclear workers.</image:caption>
</image:image>

<image:title>Mission - 1. Commit to a buildout</image:title>
<image:caption>The team of men and women building Vogtle 3 and 4 is America’s most valuable industrial asset. Without a new project to move on to, the learning, supply chains, work teams, and experience gained from Vogtle will all be dissolved with the conclusion of the project. A commitment to building out a fleet of standardized AP1000 reactors starting with the cancelled project in South Carolina would reduce costs and build times in order to successfully electrify the economy and cut carbon emissions .</image:caption>

<image:title>Mission - 6. Accelerate deployment of advanced technology</image:title>
<image:caption>The threat of climate change has brought innovation to the fore of the nuclear industry. Increasing investment in R&D, streamlining regulation, and smoothing supply chains will bring the most promising technologies to market to power the next generation fleet of reactors. Winning export business abroad will partially rely on America’s ability to compete on new technologies.</image:caption>

By providing clean, abundant, affordable power, nuclear energy can help achieve these objectives”. - Alan Medsker</image:caption>

<image:title>Team - Heather Hoff</image:title>
<image:caption>California Coordinator Heather Hoff is an operator and procedure writer at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, as well as a founder of Mothers For Nuclear. She works passionately to share her knowledge and experiences with people who are less comfortable with nuclear power. She cares deeply for both the natural environment and humanity, and belives nuclear power is necessary to enable people to overcome energy poverty while also living in concert with the Earth that supports us. She is actively involved in professional societies such as Women In Nuclear and the California Association of Women in Water, Energy, and Environment. She supports her company and community by routinely volunteering with nuclear educational outreach, native habitat restoration, and trash cleanups. Her eleven-year-old daughter often joins in these activities, and can accurately describe how mommy helps make energy so friends can run things like electric cars. Heather also has a materials engineering degree from Cal Poly, and has positive hopes for the use of technology to solve energy challenges both now and in the future.</image:caption>

<image:title>Team - Madison Hilly</image:title>
<image:caption>Founder, Executive Director Madison began her career fighting for nuclear power as a researcher and analyst for Environmental Progress, a pro-nuclear research and policy organization in Berkeley, California. She supported and co-authored analyses that have been cited in Forbes, the Washington Post, USA Today, and the New York Times. As Executive Vice President of EP, Madison oversaw all of the organization’s research, advocacy efforts, and campaigns. Madison has traveled to meet with and advise policymakers and journalists around the world, including in France, Germany, Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, and South Korea. Her organizing efforts built a coalition of industry and civil society that led to the world’s largest pro-nuclear demonstration, Stand Up For Nuclear. She has presented her work at the 2019 AtomExpo International Forum, the 2019 International Uranium Fuel Seminar, and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The onset of coronavirus underscored the related crises the U.S. is facing, and Madison decided she needed to focus her efforts on her home country. She returned to her birth city of Chicago, the epicenter of U.S. nuclear power, and launched the Campaign for a Green Nuclear Deal. Madison holds a B.S. in Environmental Sciences and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.</image:caption>
